By Implementing this policy the residential home ensures that the resident is included in all decisions relating to all aspects of their care and decisions to be made regarding them within the nursing home. Support and assistance will be provided in making decisions where necessary.
This policy has been updated to reflect the enacted Assisted Decision-making (Capacity) Act. 2015 and the updated DSS document “Your guide to and Advance Healthcare Directive” (DSS, 2023).
