By Implementing the requirements detailed in this procedure, the residential home aims to provide a safe and hygienic environment for all residents, staff and visitors. All spills that occur in the residential home are cleaned up promptly, using the appropriate equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

This policy has been updated to incorporate HIQA’s Guide and framework to Regulation 27 – Protection against Infection and Community Infection Prevention and Control Manual: A practice guide to implementing Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions in Community Health and Social Care Settings and ‘Management of Blood and Body Fluid Spillages Version 3 Poster’.
