Management of Resident Smoking

In compliance with the Public Health (Tobacco) Acts 2002 and 2015, which allows a release of the smoking ban in enclosed work spaces, the residential home must ensure that all staff, residents and visitors who do not wish to be exposed to smoke are protected. The application of this policy will assist the residential home in effectively managing resident smoking.

This policy has been updated to incorporate the requirements of the HIQA Fire Safety Handbook and ‘Stop Smoking (NCEC National Clinical Guideline No. 28)’.
