This procedure allows residential homes ensures that the environment and equipment, including medical devices, are decontaminated properly to minimise the risk of infection to residents, staff and visitors. Reference to equipment within this policy encompass both equipment and medical devices.

This policy has been updated to incorporate ‘Public Health & Infection Prevention & Control Guidelines on the Prevention and Management of Cases and Outbreaks of COVID-19, Influenza & other Respiratory Infections in Residential Care Facilities V1.11 04.04.2023. Implementation Date 19.04.2023’ and ‘Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) National Clinical Guideline No. 30’.
