Infection prevention and control are a necessity to ensure safe effective care for residents. This policy and procedure details requirements for the residential home to apply when providing care in a manner and environment that reduces the possibility of transmission of infection.

Recent updates to incorporate ‘Current recommendations for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic V2.9 31.03.2023’ and ‘Public Health & Infection Prevention & Control Guidelines on Prevention and Management of Cases and Outbreaks of COVID-19, Influenza & other Respiratory Infections in Residential Care Facilities V1.11 04.04.2023. Implementation Date 19.04.2023’ and ‘Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) National Clinical Guideline No. 30’.
